Xiao Zhang visits Shanghai for the first time and asks for directions to the Bund, learning how to ask for directions in Chinese.

Where is it
Xiao Zhang came to Shanghai for the first time. He wanted to go to the Bund to see the night view. He stood at a crossroads, saw many tall buildings, and didn’t know which way to go. He saw an old man walking by the roadside, so he went over and asked: ‘Excuse me, where is the Bund? I can’t find my direction. ‘ The old man smiled and said: ‘Don’t worry, the Bund is nearby. Go straight from this intersection, turn right at the second intersection, and you’ll see it. ‘
Xiao Zhang followed the old man’s directions, but when he reached the second intersection, he got confused again. He saw a young girl waiting for a bus and asked: ‘Excuse me, how do I get to the Bund? I just asked for directions, but I still don’t quite understand. ‘ The girl said warmly: ‘Turn left at this intersection, then walk about five minutes, and you’ll see a very wide road. The Bund is near that road. When you get there, you’ll see many people. ‘
Xiao Zhang thanked her and continued walking, finally finding the Bund. He stood by the river, looking at the beautiful night view, feeling very happy. He thought, next time if he gets lost again, he must ask clearly ‘Excuse me, how do I get to that place? ‘ and remember the signs for ‘where is it’ and ‘nearby’. He also reminded himself that when encountering a complex intersection, he should ask clearly about the direction of the ‘intersection’. This experience taught him how to ask for directions in Chinese and also made him feel the warmth of Shanghai people.
